Callback Day

EDIT: Sorry, all, I had drafted this post and then forgotten to actually publish it. It has been dated to the original draft date for your reading pleasure!

I got to go to school today!

Yes, yes, I get to go to school EVERY day. But for the last several weeks, it's been at a high school. Don't get me wrong, I still want to teach there (and I will expound upon my teaching experiences in another post soon to come. Really.) but it's gets a little wearing not having anybody to talk to. I'm the only student teacher at my school. The only one in High Level, actually, and one of only 3 in the whole district. So I don't really have anyone to compare notes with. Until today.

I can't really go into a whole lot of detail without infringing on confidentiality and possibly the ATA Code of Conduct, but I was forcibly reminded today of how extremely fortunate I have been throughout my placement. My MT is incredibly communicative and supportive, and my school has been phenomenally enthusiastic in their reception of a student teacher.

In addition to reinforcing my warm 'n' fuzzy feelings about the school division I'm with, we got to throw lesson plan ideas around the room and share some of the best successes and worst failures we've had. I'm hoping to adapt the writer's workshop ideas that a few people shared and turn them into my whole school project for the term; maybe not quite what the good folks at the FX offices had in mind, but I have to stick with what I know.

Anyways, I have to go catch a bus back to H.L., so wish me luck (eeww 12 hours on a Greyhound. For the second time in two days.)
